its been awhile. since i last posted i dont know, a bunch of stuff has happened. mostly, the packer game. it was fun! (they lost) but it was still a good game. check out paul's blog he knows how to upload photos from the camera. lets see...my clinical was called off today becuase of the weather, so that was cool. and i dont have to 'make it up' like if it was a class.. tonight me and chad and laur and paul went out for dinner. thats funny, I put me and chad together, instead of saying me and paul etc...anyway, we went to FognSuds or whatever its called and rented Superman. we also stopped at safeway and bought some ice cream toppings, and laur and i bought a hot chocolate for the salvation army guy ringing the bell, but he wouldnt accept it, and it was really awkward becuase he was so weird. He was like, "i cant. it makes me sleepy." before he even knew what it was. I was like, "oh..hot chocolate?" he's like, "Yep, hot choc. and coffee make me sleepy." then he kinda mumbled.."thanks for the thought though." it was weird. so that was our attempt to do something nice for someone. then we drove around looking for a bum to give it to, but we couldnt find one.
welp...lets hope school is cancelled for tomorrow or 2/3 of my presentation is going to be crappy becuase my presentation-mates wont drive in the snow!!! we have to practice our presentation! come on!!! anyway. thats all.

Other than that, my week has been pretty normal. School. homework...winding down to the end! yay! Ive gotta start christmas shopping soon...well...thats all for now, i have to go read The Lord of the Rings. HAVE to.

Do any of you ever experience hair butt? when you are in the shower and washing your hair and the ones falling out must wash down your back and end up in your crack? am i the only one? just wondering.
well, thats my thought for the weekend. hair butt. i dont like it.

Older adults (we're not supposed to call them old folks) are awesome. I didnt really think i would like geriatrics, but i am really enjoying helping out at the care facility. Today i had some great interactions with some old men, they are so sweet! One of them thanked me for spending time with him and kept saying, "i know youre busy, but i just dont feel right." and he told me to never lose my ability to be sympathetic and that i would make a great nurse. HE was so neat, and he is probably close to 90, but really with it (except that he is so weak he can't hardly walk)...it was also heartbreaking, he told me he didnt want to live anymore and he couldnt go on. ANother elderly man told me he wanted to hang himself...ugh..it is really sad, and the nursing staff is taking good care of these people, they just dont want to live anymore because they are so old and ready to go. Anyway, the old men just break your heart becuase its weird to see men like that, so weak..Some of them are hilarious! I asked my resident a bunch of questions, we have to ask them for an assignment, and one of them was, "How do you see yourself physically, or what do you think you look like?" and my guy answered, "Horrible!" i cracked up.
anyway, i got called into work tonight, so off i go...

hey sorry about the no blog for awhile. I took the weekend off from, well, everything except for work. I did not a stitch of homework, and it felt nice (at the time) now it feels stupid. anyway, so yesterday paul, lauren and I went down to Bellis Fair and did a tiny bit of shopping (i bought one shirt and some bath and body works stuff). That was fun. Not much else happened- went to my parents and all of us but eric went to see the new will ferrel movie, Stranger than Fiction, it was pretty good. Hes funny. I thought the ending wasnt that great, but thats usually what makes or breaks a movie, huh, the ending?
Today i went back to the Nursing Home and did more care with old people-it was great. THey are quite a riot. its nice not having a regular school day. This one lady i was helping with her make up and hair, and she was holding a mirror and kept saying, "oh dear, its horrible! (SIGH) just awful, the way i look (sigh)..." it was very funny- she was all upset like she had never seen her wrinkles before.
well...i better go and get updated on all of your lives.

Clinical: first day of clinical for me today, it was generally ok. the first 4 hours were LONG, treacherous, boring-just tours of the care unit (old folks home) and lots of standing and trying to hear the tour guides talking. anyway, then we FINALLY got to meet our resident (the person we are going to provide care for in the next month, two times a week) and so i went to my patient's room, and he is ADORABLE (apparently very un-nurse like to refer to older adults as "cute" "sweet" "adorable" but im sorry, he just is). He really really is and so i am glad i have him. he's also very independant, so i dont really even have to do that much for him, he can dress, feed, toilet himself, walk around...hes awesome. Anyway, i shouldnt talk about him, i dont know how much im "allowed" to disclose about somebody. yeah, so today was the first time i felt a TINY bit like a nurse becuase i have my own resident. its a good feeling.

Me ok! now the template screen went away and i can no longer post pictures. what is up with this crap? anyway, today i went to BC BioMed lab for nursing and got to see samples of crap that had pinworms and tapeworms in them. disgusting.
thats about the extent of my day. Yesterday we celebrated dad's birthday and we made him that shirt he's been wanting (kath) the one with his picture on the front and back...anyway, he was thrilled!! Completely. he liked it more than the 75$ gift card.

yeah! i finally figured out how to post a picture. well, it wasnt entirely my fault, this screen has never come up for me before, it was never this...i dont know, extensive. anyway, since i now know how to post pictures, my blog will be VERY interesting now.
